Información general del producto

The SIMATIC ET 200SP e-Starter is a fully electronic compact starter for demanding motors and resistive loads with fuseless, resettable short-circuit protection

Fully electronic compact starter for demanding motors and resistive loads with fuseless, resettable short-circuit protection

The comprehensive engineering tool to configure, program, test, and diagnose all SIMATIC controllers intuitively and efficiently.

The Scalable Periphery system is developed for universal use in a wide range of applications and industries.

Switch and protect three-phase asynchronous motors and resistive loads with the SIMATIC ET 200SP e-Starter, a fully electronic motor starter. It provides fully electronic short-circuit and overload protection.

The integrated Smart Start, together with phase-optimized switching, neutralizes inrush currents, reduces starting currents, and minimizes starting torque peaks. The compact e-Starter is part of the SIMATIC ET 200SP system and is fully integrated into STEP 7 (TIA Portal). The Standard Submodule enables safe switching off (Safe Torque Off, or STO) via a fail-safe digital input (F-DI).

Gain greater availability thanks to reliable short circuit detection, ultra-fast switching in less than 5 μs, and reduced electrical load. After the fault has been corrected, you can immediately switch on again.

Protect your high-efficiency motors and sensitive applications from electrical and mechanical damage with the built-in Smart Start, which neutralizes inrush currents, reduces starting currents and torque peaks, and more.

Easily install and quickly set up the e-Starter in TIA Portal with backplane bus and plug-in technology for increased efficiency. Replace devices easily during operation with automatic reparameterization (hot swapping).

Protect high-efficiency motors and sensitive applications. High inrush currents, which can cause the protective function to trip unintentionally, occur particularly in highly efficient motors, such as those in energy efficiency classes IE3 and IE4. The SIMATIC ET 200SP e‑Starter’s integrated Smart Start neutralizes inrush currents and reduces starting currents and torque during motor startup.

Control and monitor machines easily with the compact SIMATIC ET 200SP I/O system. The e-Starter is fully integrated into SIMATIC STEP 7 (TIA Portal). Configuration, parameterization and commissioning are performed directly with TIA Portal. The device can be easily replaced during operation (hot swapping) by automatic re-parameterization. The integrated diagnostic function allows detailed system diagnostics without additional programming.

Use the Standard Submodule with Safe Torque Off (STO) via a fail-safe digital input (F-DI) to quickly and safely switch off motors. The e-Starter meets the highest safety standards, as defined by IEC 61508 / 62061 (SIL 3) and ISO 13849‑1 (PL e, Category 4). These certifications make it ideal for safety applications requiring the highest standards of personnel and equipment protection.

Short circuits can be expensive. Lengthy troubleshooting and the potential need to replace equipment can lead to unnecessary downtime. The SIMATIC ET 200SP e‑Starter switches off reliably ultra-fast, for example in humid environments with an increased risk of short circuits. Immediate notification allows you to quickly locate the cause, rectify the fault and restart immediately.

The benefits are clear: less and shorter downtime, an immediate restart after fault clearance, and no false tripping due to high inrush currents. Semiconductor technology also reduces the effort required for short-circuit and selectivity planning and mechanical wear thanks to electronic switching. It also reduces the need for service interventions and inventory requirements and prevents short-circuit damage to equipment.

The SIMATIC ET 200SP e-Starter protects not only your applications, but also valuable resources thanks to the durability of its innovative semiconductor technology. In addition, its compact design and integrated Smart Start ensures minimal material consumption and high energy efficiency and is therefore certified with the Siemens EcoTech label.

This certification evaluates products based on transparent, standardized criteria throughout their entire lifecycle, taking into account factors such as material usage, energy efficiency, repairability, and recyclability. It provides clear, transparent information on the SIMATIC ET 200SP e‑Starter’s environmental performance, enabling you to use it confidently as a sustainable solution in your facility.

The integrated Smart Start feature neutralizes inrush currents and reduces starting currents. This reduces the torque when starting motors. High starting currents particularly occur in highly efficient motors, such as those in energy efficiency classes IE3 and IE4.

This significantly reduces mechanical load and prevents damage to gears, which is particularly relevant in applications with high switching frequencies. In short, Smart Start protects highly efficient motors and sensitive applications, reduces the need for mechanical maintenance, and prevents unwanted trips from other protection devices during start-up.

The e-Starter comes with a Standard Submodule that enables a safe motor shutdown thanks to its integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) function. Accordingly, it meets the highest safety standards according to IEC 61508 / 62061 (SIL 3) and ISO 13849 (Performance Level e, Category 4). This makes the e‑Starter ideal for safety-related applications that require the highest level of personnel and equipment protection.

The new Standard Submodule for the SIMATIC ET 200SP e‑Starter expands the range of applications to include highly demanding industrial applications that require a safety-related shutdown up to SIL 3, PL e, Category 4. A reliable, fail-safe shutdown of motors is essential for protecting people and preventing plant damage. The e‑Starter complies with all relevant standards required for this purpose, including IEC 61508, IEC 62061, and ISO 13849‑1. With the Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function integrated into the Standard Submodule, the motor is immediately shut down in an emergency and remains safely switched off until it is deliberately restarted in a controlled manner.

In addition, the e-Starter with the new Standard Submodule is approved for the operation and protection of motors in hazardous areas of Zones 1/21 and complies with the requirements of the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU as well as the international IECEx certification scheme. This makes it ideally suited for use in explosive atmospheres and ensures safe and reliable protection in such environments.

The new Standard Submodule also provides extended condition monitoring functions. Monitoring of active power for detecting load variations enables analysis of energy consumption. Recording the switching frequency supports the evaluation of thermal stress. These functions increase transparency during operation and help to plan maintenance activities in a targeted manner, reduce unplanned downtime, and sustainably increase plant availability.
